Police Cooperation Convention for South East Europe

With the project “Police Cooperation Convention for South East Europe”, the Austrian Presidency hopes to make an active contribution towards encouraging police cooperation in South East Europe. The aim is to adopt the Schengen standards in South East Europe through the conclusion of a multilateral convention for the improvement of strategic police collaboration in the region. In this way, the Western Balkan countries will gradually be brought into line with European Union standards of police cooperation.

Participating states are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova and Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.

Austria and Germany are acting in cooperation with Europol and the Stability Pact for South East Europe as well as with active support from experts from Croatia as “midwives” in the development of the mutual police cooperation agreement.
