Presidency Statement on the earthquake in Java


 

The Presidency of the European Union is deeply saddened by the news of the earthquake that hit Java today and by the loss of so many human lives.

The Presidency of the European Union expresses its sincere condolences to the bereaved families as well as to the Government and the people of Indonesia.

The European Union stands ready to help in order to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by this terrible disaster.
