Location:

Vienna is situated in the north-eastern foothills of the Alps on the north-west rim of the Vienna Basin. Most of the city is to the south of the Danube. Vienna lies at the crossroads of two ancient trade routes, the west-east route along the Danube and the amber route linking north and south.
