Court of Auditors

The Court of Auditors is a control organ that functions as an institution of the National Council and the provincial councils. The president of the Court of Auditors is elected for a term of office on the proposal of the National Council's main committee. Service is limited to a single term.

The standard for review by the Court of Auditors is numerical accuracy, legality, economy, efficiency and usefulness. The Court of Auditors generally undertakes reviews on its own initiative. The Court of Auditors must undertake a review of accounts on the basis of a decision by the federal government, the National Council, a provincial government or a provincial council.

Among other things, all of the federal, provincial and municipal budgets, the finances of foundations, funds, corporations and institutions under federal, provincial or municipal administration or control are audited by the Court of Auditors.
