OSCE Permanent Council No. 598


EU response to address by Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling, High Representative and EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina

  1. The European Union welcomes Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling to the Permanent Council today, for what has been his first address to us as High Representative and EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  2. We commend the close cooperation between the OHR/EUSR and the OSCE, in working in areas such as elections, education, human rights, and justice reform.
  3. We welcome the proposal to establish an OHR-OSCE Working Group to coordinate in a continuous and productive way those of our activities that have a direct bearing on one another.
  4. We wish the High Representative and his staff every success in their endeavours.

The Acceding Countries Bulgaria and Romania, the Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the Countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, and Serbia and Montenegro, EFTA countries Iceland and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova align themselves with this declaration.

*Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process
