EU Statement on Tajikistan
- We would like to thank the Tajik Ambassador for his statement, to which we listened carefully. We support all efforts to enhance regional cooperation in Central Asia, including in the field of border management.
- The European Union is involved in various activities aimed at creating and maintaining open and secure borders in Central Asia, inter alia through the EU´s BOMCA programme. Therefore, we welcome the commitment of the Tajik side to follow up on the commitments and recommendations of the Border Security and Management Concept adopted at the Ministerial Council in Ljubljana with regard to the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
- We will study the proposal made by the Tajik delegation and revert to the issue at a later point in time.
